This episode at Feather & Foundation our WOW word is Honor. We recently celebrated Memorial Day here in the US. It's a day that we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in serving our country. It seems today, that we have lost recognizing and honoring people - like police, teachers, doctors, firemen, judges. We can honor the position/occupation, even if we might not agree with everything. How can we show up in the world honoring our parents? Our family? Our co-workers? And friends? How can we honor what our minds, bodies, and souls need? Honor. As a child, I was taught to respect "my elders" and public servants...pretty much all adults. To honor their position, even if as I got older didn't always agree or understand- I still needed to honor them. Today, Honor seems to be fleeting around us. The military recognizes "honor"- with an honor code. How can we honor our parents? Our family unit? Our co-workers? Our friends? And ourselves. Being present, giving eye contact, honoring commitments we make- we can be the change of bringing honor back into the mainstream by modeling it.
