This special episode features a guest speaker- author Heidi Ann Kirby with our WOW word of Resiliency. Heidi Ann shares her personal story of growing up and dealing with sibling abuse. It's a topic that is not often heard of or spoken. While reading her book- My Sister's Secret Keeper (available on Amazon)- the underlying message is that of faith & resiliency. Each chapter ends with thought provoking questions for insight of the role we all may play in our families (even if sibling abuse was not something happening in your situation). You'll hear Heidi Ann's faith and courage shine through, as well as obedience in addressing a tough family secret. You'll see how she is a victor over her circumstances in resiliency. You'll be inspired and educated on a tough topic. It may remind each of us of the resiliency that lies within all of us.
We welcome Heidi Ann to our podcast to discuss a tough topic- that of sibling abuse (physical & emotional). As I read her book, My Sister's Secret Keeper my heart broke on hearing her story and family dynamics. Yet in the unthinkable, in the hard- she shares how her faith carried her through. The word resiliency came bubbling up over and over again with each page I turned. The human spirit of rising above unthinkable circumstances is certainly captured and celebrated in the book and in our podcast. It's in the hard, where we get to meet faith, courage, bravery and resiliency. I'm honored that Heidi Ann was willing to share her personal story with Feather & Foundation and that it be used not only to educate about sibling abuse- which is not talked about, but also to remind us of our resiliency when faced with unimaginable things in our life.
